Sahara Adventures is an affordable boat charter company that provides exciting half-day and full-day private excursions, sunset cruises, and custom trips to the amazing reefs and sights around Providenciales.
In addition to visiting the beautiful and secluded beaches and cays near the island, the company offers a range of fun water sports that can complement your cruise, including tubing, subwinging, sea scooter snorkeling on the barrier reef, and reef and bottom fishing.
All trips are private and tailored to your wishes, and tend to be great value for families and small groups who don't want to book a public cruise.
Possible sights and destinations include Little Water Cay, Half Moon Bay, Water Cay, Pine Cay, Fort George Cay, Sand Dollar Cove and the sandbars, Leeward Cut Reef, and Noah's Ark floating bar.
Sahara Adventures can also organize private boat charters to the La Famille Express shipwreck and the remote West Harbour Bluff, where there’s a small cave, sea cliffs, and interesting wildlife.
Boat Charters
This company's private charters are typically half-day or full-day adventures, though they also offer 2-hour sunset cruises in beautiful Grace Bay. Depending on the vessel, trips can accommodate between 6 and 10 passengers.
If you're not sure where you'd like to go or what you'd like to do, the crew can plan a custom itinerary based on your interests, whether it's exploring the pristine white-sand beaches of Water Cay and Pine Cay or touring the La Famille Express shipwreck and Noah's Ark floating bar.
Charters include non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (such as water, soda, beer, rosé, and champagne), snacks, fresh fruit, and sandwiches to enjoy on the boat or on a beach of your choosing. With a little advance notice, they can arrange vegan and vegetarian options.
Water Sports
The water sports that Sahara Adventures offers are fairly easy to learn. No previous experience is typically required, and the crew is happy to show you how to properly use and maneuver the equipment.
Sea Scooters
Sahara Adventures offers two unique ways to explore the incredible reefs of the Turks and Caicos.
Sea scooters are small and easy-to-use electric underwater scooters that snorkelers can use to zip around the reef, both on the surface and while freediving. These scooters allow you to see more of the underwater sights in less time, and are also simply fun to use.
Subwings
A subwing is a small towed wing that snorkelers hang onto and that is pulled behind a boat at slow speed. The wing can be tilted and canted by the snorkeler, which allows you to dive, spin, and glide. It takes a little bit of practice to get used to but can be an exhilarating and unforgettable way to experience the reef and marine environment.
Tubing
Tubing is a great activity for kids and adults seeking an adrenaline rush. Your driver can offer rides at a variety of speeds, and—unlike public tubing tours—you can tube for as long as your charter allows.
Bottom Fishing
There's great bottom fishing in the waters surrounding Providenciales where you can catch a variety of colorful (and tasty) fish like snapper, grouper, and jacks. The company runs 4-hour private bottom fishing trips for between 2 and 8 guests. Your fishing gear and license are included.
Sahara Adventures is also one of the few companies on the island that offers shared fishing charters. These public trips accommodate up to 6 passengers and require at least 4 people to operate.
Sunset Proposal Cruise
Guests have the option of adding a beach proposal onto their sunset cruise. Cruises depart Providenciales and coast to a quiet beach with a decorative proposal arch, romantic background music, and even a hidden camera so you can get photos and video of your engagement.
The 2.5-hour experience includes a private boat and experienced captain, canapés and white wine or champagne, and complimentary round-trip pickup from your accommodation.
The Boat and Captain
Sahara Adventures operates a comfortable Sea Ray 270 Sundancer and a nimble Godfrey Hurricane deck boat, both of which offer ample seating and shade while being able to navigate through shallows and reefs to some of the best spots in the Turks and Caicos.
Onboard both vessels is snorkel gear, safety equipment, and a sound system. The Sundancer is suitable for up to 10 guests while the Hurricane can seat six.
Tours are led by Captain Hans, who has been operating boats for 18 years. He knows some great spots around the Turks and Caicos.
Complimentary beach pickup or land transportation is provided for guests.
Located at Heaving Down Rock Marina
Heaving Down Rock Marina (also known as Walkin Marina) is located on the eastern coast of Providenciales and on Leeward Going Through Channel. Several water sports businesses operate from this complex, as well as the ferry services to North Caicos and South Caicos.
