South Caicos Hotels
South CaicosWild coastlines, raw nature, and some of the country's freshest seafood await visitors of South Caicos, an up-and-coming luxury tourism destination for the Turks and Caicos. The island is home to two luxury resorts and a small beach hotel that offer peaceful Turks and Caicos getaways without the crowds.
Places to Stay

Salterra Resort & Spa
Salterra Resort & Spa is the island's newest luxury accommodation, and is located on Salterra Beach in the main town of Cockburn Harbour. This five-star Marriott Luxury Collection property boasts 100 ocean-facing guest rooms and suites, as well as several swimming pools, six restaurants onsite, and a dedicated kids club.
Their Adventures by Salterra program make the hotel an incredible accommodation for nature enthusiasts—scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and bonefishing are just a few of the expeditions offered.

Ocean & Beach Resort
For a simple and no-fuss stay, the Ocean & Beach Resort provides modest lodgings for visitors of Cockburn Harbour. Guests can choose from standard studio rooms or two-bedroom townhouses. What stands out at this budget hotel is the view—perched on a cliff, the hotel looks onto beautiful Long Cay and Dove Cay.
Onsite is the Dolphin Grill restaurant, which serves Turks and Caicos cuisine as well as burgers, pizza, and other comfort foods for lunch and dinner.

Best Hotel Locations
South Caicos has quite a few varied and impressive coasts, but the best location for beachfront stays is arguably Salterra Beach. This secluded south coast beach is home to white sand, turquoise water that's generally calmer and cleaner than many other South Caicos beaches, and the expansive Salterra Resort.
Another wonderful location for vacations is The Cove Beach, which offers sheltered and picturesque waters in the beautiful lagoon of Bell Sound. While there are no accommodations located directly on the beach, it's easy to access the coast via a short golf cart ride from the nearby Sailrock South Caicos resort.

Resort Dining
Most of the dining to be found on South Caicos is offered through the island's resorts. Whether you're in the mood for fine dining, fresh seafood, or casual comfort food at a breezy beach bar, there's great dining to be had at these properties.
Both luxury resorts serve breakfast, lunch and dinner onsite.
Accommodation Types
The luxury South Caicos resorts offer many of the amenities you would expect of a high-end property on the main island of Providenciales or at another Caribbean destination. Wi-Fi and air-conditioning are standard, as are one or more resort pools, an onsite spa, onsite dining and bar options, and concierge service.
In the guest rooms and suites, you can expect the usual coffee and tea maker, hair dryer, pool and beach towels, and daily housekeeping, among other in-room amenities. At this time, no rental villas or bed and breakfast accommodations are available on South Caicos beyond those at the full-service resorts. Some resort villas also come with a fully-equipped kitchen and dedicated private dining area.

Experiences and Activities
South Caicos is an amazing destination for discovering nature, so be sure to get out and explore. Non-motorized water sports equipment, including Hobie Cat sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear, are typically included for guests of the luxury resorts.
Likewise, Salterra guests have access to sea kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear, as well as a kids club. Through its Adventures by Salterra program, the resort also offers snorkeling and scuba diving trips to the island's coral reefs, guided bonefishing, and yoga classes, among other experiences.

Getting to South Caicos
As of 2024, it's possible to fly direct from the United States to South Caicos via American Airlines. To get from Providenciales to South Caicos, you will need to take either a domestic flight on a small plane or a passenger ferry. Both are similar in cost.

International Flights
The only scheduled international flight to South Caicos is a direct American Airlines flight from Miami—South Caicos (XSC). The flight is offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Travelers departing on scheduled international flights from other cities must first land at the Providenciales International Airport (PLS)—the country's largest and primary airport—before traveling onwards to South Caicos.

Domestic Flights & Ferries
The flight is the faster option and usually takes under 20 minutes. Carrier interCaribbean offers several daily flights, typically on small twin turboprop aircraft. These aircraft are not very large, so there may be luggage constraints, especially for those bringing water sports equipment such as kiteboarding gear. Same-day connections to South Caicos are typically possible for visitors arriving to Providenciales in the morning or early afternoon.
Caribbean Cruisin' offers a twice-weekly passenger ferry service, which takes under two hours each way. The ferry may be the better choice for those with large amounts of luggage.
Charter flights and ferry services can be arranged as well, and may make sense for bigger groups. The larger South Caicos resorts include complimentary airport pickup for guests.

Bookings and Reservations
Booking directly is typically the most effective way to get the best rate on your room, suite, or resort villa, as the luxury properties sometimes offer special deals or credits to spend at their restaurants and spas for guests who book direct. As with any vacation, it's recommended to book your stay well ahead of your intended travel dates. The accommodations on South Caicos are more limited than on Providenciales—last minute bookings for large groups, weddings, or for dates during the tourism high season may not be possible.
All Turks and Caicos hotels must charge Government Tourism Tax (12%) and a mandatory service charge (10%). Some properties also charge a facility fee (5% or greater). Taxes may or may not be included in room rates listed online.
