Providenciales E-foil Surfing Lessons

Electric foil surfing (also known as e-foiling) is a water sport that combines elements of surfing and kiteboarding, yet is much easier to learn and doesn’t require specific wind or wave conditions. It’s an activity that can be picked up relatively quickly with just a little practice.
E-foils are small surfboards powered by batteries and electric motors. They have a mast with a hydrofoil wing that allows the rider to rise above the ocean to around 2 feet (0.6 m) at faster speeds. When going slower, the e-foil basically acts like a powered stand-up paddleboard. Speed is controlled via a handheld remote.
There are two dedicated Turks and Caicos e-foiling schools and rental businesses based on Providenciales. Both offer a range of packages that include lessons as well as e-foil rentals by the hour. If coastal and weather conditions allow for it, they are typically able to operate from many locations, and can meet guests at their villa or resort.
Several boat charter companies also offer e-foiling as an add-on experience for private excursions.
E-Foiling Lessons

Most beginners can pick up the minimum skills needed to e-foil after just one initial lesson and rental. Lessons for new riders usually start with a 30-minute safety and skills briefing to get you ready to ride. Riders are given flotation vests and helmets (some of which have radio communication with the instructor).
Instructors typically follow closely behind on their own e-foil to effectively coach you and provide guidance as your skills progress. The guide sets the power output of the boards, which allows maximum speed to be ramped up as you get more comfortable e-foiling.
Having kiteboarding, wakeboarding, or surfing experience typically flattens the learning curve for e-foiling, but it isn’t a requirement.
E-foil boards and safety equipment can be easily transported by land, allowing the local e-foiling schools to use the calmest and best beaches available on the island as a classroom.
Some companies have wings that you can add to your board rental to try wingfoiling.
Session Prices
E-foiling lessons start at around $200 per hour (2026 price). A few companies also offer new rider lessons in half-hour increments from $125 per person.
There's typically a discount for larger groups wanting to learn together. Some companies also offer video or photo coverage as an add-on for sessions.
Water sports companies are required to charge a 12% Government Tourism Tax on rentals and tours. This may or may not be included in the listed price.
What's Included
Lessons and rentals typically include your helmet, flotation vest, and rental of the e-foil board, as well as a certified instructor who provides coaching and feedback throughout the lesson.
Not usually included are optional gratuities for your instructor and transport to the lesson location.
Best Turks and Caicos E-Foiling Locations

The best foil surfing locations, especially for beginners, essentially only require enough depth for the foil mast on the board (4–5 feet or 1.2–1.5 meters) and calm water conditions. Turks and Caicos, and specifically the island of Providenciales, offers many exceptional locations.
A wonderful and popular place to learn is Grace Bay, and there are many locations along this coast that have the right conditions for this water sport.
Leeward Beach near Leeward Going Through channel, Sapodilla Bay Beach, and Turtle Tail Beach often tend to be very calm and sheltered from the typical east-southeast trade winds.
While it's often too windy (and is a better beach for kiteboarding), Long Bay Beach can be a great e-foiling location on low-wind days.
There are several cays nearby that are too far to e-foil to from Providenciales, but that are great locations if you're on a private boat charter with access to e-foils. Zipping around the beaches at Half Moon Bay, Water Cay, and Pine Cay is an incredible experience.
Bookings and Reservations
The best e-foiling conditions are on flat calm days with no wind. Consider checking the wind and wave forecast before booking. Most companies will reschedule you for the first available date or offer a refund if poor weather prohibits your session.
Minimum age varies by company, but riders must typically be 12 years or older to try e-foiling.
