To feel the true essence of the Turks and Caicos in the form of art, you need not look any further than Anna’a Art Gallery. Located in the heart of Saltmills Plaza, a bustling shopping complex in central Grace Bay, Anna’s Art Gallery carries a large selection of original paintings by local artists, locally made jewelry, crafts, unique gifts, and more.
The shop’s owner, Anna Bourne, has lived in the Turks and Caicos for more than 25 years and is completely self-taught. Anna discovered her passion for silk painting at the age of 25 and shortly after began working as a full-time artist, expanding from silk painting into other mediums such as sketching, sewing, and fabric-dying.
Acting on encouragement from a friend, Anna decided to open an art gallery of her own in 2009. Since then, Anna’s Art Gallery has quickly become a staple in the Turks and Caicos art community. Loved by residents and visitors alike for its unique paintings and trinkets, Anna’s offers visitors an opportunity to take a piece of the islands home with them. The artist and gallery owner takes inspiration for her art from the beauty of the Turks and Caicos, and in particular, the calm and tranquil Turks and Caicos seas. Anna currently works in various mediums such as silk, which is considered her specialty, as well as watercolor, acrylic, oil, glass, and jewelry.
Upon entering Anna’s Art Gallery, you immediately feel the aura of the Turks and Caicos engulf you. From the wall and table displays to the local crafts carefully nestled on the gallery’s shelves, the art gallery specializes in showcasing all things local.
Since its inception, Anna’s Art Gallery has featured art from more than a dozen local artists. Although the mediums they each employ may be different, they all share one common theme: the beauty and splendor of the Turks and Caicos. With a large variety of options to choose from, Anna’s Art Gallery caters to a wide range of interests. Visitors can purchase paintings or photos of local scenery, ceramics depicting local flora, or exquisite handmade jewelry, from earrings to necklaces to bracelets, all inspired by the colors of the Turks and Caicos.
Adding to its local flair, Anna’s Art Gallery also carries island salt sourced from Salt Cay—a sparsely populated island that contains the last few remnants of the TCI’s salt industry, which thrived in the islands until its demise in the 1930s.
The shop’s offerings don’t stop there. Homemade soaps, scarves, blown glass pieces, and other unique items, such as cufflinks made from conch shells, are also available for purchase, ensuring that you won’t leave empty-handed. No matter your personal style or preferences, each and every traveler is sure to find a souvenir to remind them of the Turks and Caicos, or even a small gift to share the beauty of the islands s with loved ones at home.
Expanding her offerings even more, Anna more recently opened Anna’s Too—a sister company to Anna’s Art Gallery that carries beautifully crafted women’s wear, all made out of cotton to ensure comfort. Anna’s Too also carries books, pillows, home décor items, and beach accessories such as flip-flops, tote bags, and more. Anna’s second store is conveniently also located in the Saltmills Plaza next to Anna’s Art Gallery. If you’re on the island and visiting the shop in person, Anna’s friendly and helpful staff can assist you in purchasing artwork directly from the gallery.
To add convenience to your shopping experience, customers also have the option of purchasing items online by visiting the gallery’s online store. The online store features artwork in various mediums such as oil painting, acrylic painting, and silk painting, with all art pieces being priced according to its size. Jewelry, soaps, and handmade dolls are also available in the online shop.
