The Bight Beach

West Bay Club provides a range of beach and water sports amenities for their guests, including Hobie Cat sailboats, kayaks, and paddle boards.

West Bay Club is located on the beautiful Bight Beach, which is found to the west of Grace Bay Beach. The Bight Beach offers a different atmosphere, with a more sheltered location, smaller crowds, and lush seagrass growing further offshore.

When seeking the calmest beach when vacationing in the Turks and Caicos, it’s important to understand the wind direction and speed. During typical conditions, the islands experience southeastern trade winds, which usually make the east side coasts a little rougher than those on the western side. The beach in front of the resort is at the most sheltered part of the Bight Beach's coast, and consequently usually has the calmest water of any stretch of the beach.

Snorkeling

A great aspect of the beach near the resort is that it’s within very easy walking distance of The Bight Reef (also known as Coral Gardens), which is the island’s most popular beach snorkeling site. This reef system starts directly off the beach, and continues out for quite a distance. There’s a huge spectrum of colorful reef fish, stingrays, turtles, coral, and the occasional nurse shark.

The verdant seagrass beds that front the Bight Beach also are home to amazing sea creatures. There are starfish, stingrays, eagle rays, baby sharks, turtles, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the beach like at West Bay Club?
West Bay Club looks out onto a serene stretch of the Bight Beach with white sand and turquoise water that's great for swimming, relaxing, and snorkeling along the nearby reef. The resort provides loungers, umbrellas, cabanas, and non-motorized watersports equipment for guests to use.
Are there any shops or restaurants within walking distance of the resort?
The closest restaurants off-site are The Marine Room and Lemon2Go’s West Providenciales location. Shopping in the area is limited. Central Grace Bay is about a six-minute drive away. There, you can find stores and plazas that sell clothing, souvenirs, and luxury goods, as well as many restaurants, bars, and cafés.
Does West Bay Club accommodate destination weddings?
Yes, you can host your destination wedding at West Bay Club or on its beachfront. Less crowded than Grace Bay Beach, the Bight Beach is a nice alternative for a beach wedding and boasts the same white sand, turquoise water, and vibrant sunsets.
Is complimentary airport shuttle service provided?
No, there is no shuttle service from Providenciales International Airport (PLS) to West Bay Club. Booking a taxi from the airport is one way to get there, though given the hotel's location, you may want to rent a car if you plan to explore central Grace Bay and the rest of the island.
How do I get to the Bight Reef (Coral Gardens) from West Bay Club?
The best section of the Bight Reef is a seven-minute walk along the beach from West Bay Club. Head east (or right, if you’re facing the ocean) until you see a ring of red buoys off-shore. These are the markers for the reef, where you can spot sea life such as parrotfish, stingrays, sea turtles, brain coral, and puffer fish. Snorkel around the circle of buoys—swimming within them is prohibited.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not allowed on the property.
