Leeward Highway, ProvidencialesAssociated Medical Practices is a full-service general care and urgent care center located in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. This medical center offers preventative care, diagnostics, family care, pediatric care, and emergency services provided by experienced physicians. The practice also has referral relationships with top medical facilities in the region in case specialty services are needed.
The facility has a 24-hour medical hotline and the urgent care is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday and from 9 am to noon on Sundays. The practice is conveniently located on Leeward Highway next to the green Glass Shack building. The site also includes Island Pharmacy and offers some off-site services for home and hotel visits.Urgent Care
The complex’s walk-in urgent care services include managing and stabilizing medical, surgical, and obstetric emergencies. The physicians on staff are experienced with emergency situations and have the latest technology to diagnose and treat patients. Diagnostic X-rays, ultrasound equipment, and oxygen cylinders or concentrators are available onsite.
For divers, the facility is fully equipped to deliver hyperbaric treatment for decompression sickness. The experienced physicians on staff have completed formal training in the management and care of decompression sickness and follow U.S. Navy treatment protocols.
For critical emergency and specialty situations that require more resources, the medical center has a close liaison with the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, which is a hospital managed by local InterHealth Canada. Rapid transfer is also available to specialist hospitals in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.
General Care
Associated Medical Practices offer a wide range of general care services, including pediatrics, general care, vaccinations, and health screening exams. The offerings include prenatal and postnatal services. With laboratory screenings and equipment including X-ray and ultrasound machines, the practice is well-equipped to handle preventative care and health screenings.
Associated Medical Practices also assists with chronic disease management, COPD and asthma care, dental services, family planning, gynecology, and cosmetic dermatology. There is also an optometry facility on-site, providing eyeglasses, contact lenses, eye exams, diabetic and glaucoma checks, and care for inflammation and irritation of the eye. The center also has a chiropractor who is available for deep muscle therapy and sports injury treatments.
Full CDC-compliant vaccinations for the flu, pneumonia, covid-19, and other conditions are available at the medical center. The medical center also offers exams for work, school, and travel documents. If transport is an issue, home and hotel visits are offered for convenience.
Island Pharmacy
Island Pharmacy is an accessible on-site pharmacy at the facility. The pharmacy has over-the-counter medications and also has full-time pharmacists who fill prescriptions. Other items available at the pharmacy include skincare and beauty products, vitamins and supplements, first aid supplies, and medical equipment. Island Pharmacy is open until 6 pm on weekdays and until 4 pm on Saturdays.
Insurance
Associated Medical Practices has downloadable patient forms available online to expedite paperwork. The Turks and Caicos NHIP (National Health Insurance Plan) is accepted. For other insurance carriers, payment is due upfront and patients can then file claims with their providers.
Located in Leeward Highway
Leeward Highway is the main highway on Providenciales, and runs from the Downtown and airport area to the far eastern end of the island. Many of the island’s larger stores and businesses are located along this four-lane route.
