Adventures by Salterra
Salterra Resort, 1 Fourth Street, Salterra Beach, South Caicos
Adventures by Salterra is the water sports and excursions center for the luxury Salterra Resort & Spa. It offers a large selection of activities, from boat cruises to guided bonefishing, that allow travelers to experience the best of what the natural world on South Caicos has to offer.
While its experiences and activities are primarily for guests of Salterra, the center can occasionally accommodate off-resort visitors.
Boat Cruises

Adventures by Salterra's boat tours take place aboard a fleet of vessels ranging from catamarans for leisurely cruising to custom flats boats for reaching hard-to-access cays.
Their signature Caicos Bank Adventure cruise combines visiting uninhabited cays like Long Cay, snorkeling, and encounters with endangered Turks and Caicos rock iguanas—great for families. Sunset cruises offer a more romantic and adult atmosphere well-suited to couples and honeymooners.
All tours include a knowledgeable guide, and custom charters are available upon request.
Guided Bonefishing
Fly-fishing and guided bonefishing excursions visit the spectacular flats of the Caicos Banks. Fishing tours with Adventures by Salterra provide all necessary equipment, including fly rods, reels, and flies, and passage to the best fishing spots aboard their nimble custom skiffs.
The flats are a great place for catching bonefish, barracuda, and permit (and on more rare occasions, tarpon). Instructors also offer one-on-one fly-fishing lessons.
Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

New and experienced snorkelers and divers will delight in the pristine coral reefs found near South Caicos. The center's private snorkeling tours and scuba diving trips visit some of the best sites around, including nearby Dove Cay. Scuba diving charters come with personalized valet dive services (no need to tote heavy gear). New divers can get certified onsite through the center's Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course.
Through its partnership with the School for Field Studies, Adventures by Salterra also offers reef restoration excursions where divers can help conservationists plant corals underwater.
Wildlife varies by dive, but red cushion sea stars, eagle rays, sea turtles, and lemon sharks are possible sightings.
Wing-Foiling and Kiteboarding
The center's kiteboarding and wing-foiling program focuses on small group lessons—up to 2 guests at a time—and can accommodate beginners as well as more advanced guests who want supervision as they fly through the waters off Salterra Beach.
Lessons are led by expert instructors accredited through the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO).
Whale Watching
Between January and April, humpback whales migrate past South Caicos. The center's humpback whale migration expedition allows you to observe these whales in some of the world’s clearest waters (and even listen to their song through an underwater acoustic monitoring system).
Land Activities
If you'd rather stay on dry land, Adventures by Salterra offers guided trail biking and birdwatching excursions that visit some of the island's most scenic locations. The birdlife on South Caicos ranges from vibrant Caribbean flamingos found in its salinas to ospreys, tri-colored herons, brown pelicans, and reddish egrets. Trail biking tours consist of a five-mile loop that explores beautiful Highlands Bay.
Bookings and Reservations
All sports and excursions are booked via Salterra Resort's concierge. Certain activities, such as wing-foiling and kiteboarding, are weather dependent. If weather affects your experience, the resort will typically reschedule you at no charge for the next available date.
Tours and excursions may be subject to additional fees and taxes.
