Planning a babymoon in the Caribbean? With a much lower population density than other Caribbean destinations like Jamaica, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) is a quiet and relaxing place for pregnant couples who are looking forward to their last vacation before welcoming a baby into the family.
Getting here is also straightforward, with direct international flights from many United States cities, Canada, and the United Kingdom serving the main island of Providenciales.
Once you arrive, it’s easy to see why so many people choose to take maternity photos in Turks and Caicos. The country is the perfect backdrop for capturing timeless pregnancy pictures, with some of the best beaches in the world and bluest waters in the Caribbean.

Planning a Turks and Caicos Babymoon
Generally, the Turks and Caicos offers warm and sunny weather throughout the year. While the average temperature is 80° F (27° C), the hottest months are June, July, August, September, and October. These months coincide with the country's annual hurricane season.
Turks and Caicos is an expensive destination, regardless of the time of year you're visiting. However, be prepared to pay top dollar for accommodation and flights if you’re planning a babymoon during the high season months of November to April.
The summer and early autumn heat can be intense for pregnant people. However, this also tends to be the most affordable time of year to vacation in the archipelago. Prices for accommodation can be as much as 30% cheaper than high season prices (especially between September and early November).
Most couples take a babymoon vacation during the second trimester, or between weeks 13 and 27 of pregnancy. However, be sure to seek the advice of your doctor for travel before booking a trip.
Staying at one of the beachfront resorts is a great option for babymoons. Many of these properties have one or more onsite restaurants, a spa, one or more pools, and loungers and umbrellas set up right on the beach. Grace Bay is also home to several budget hotels and resorts located a little further inland but within a short shuttle ride or 5-minute walk of the coast.
Pregnancy and Maternity Shoots
If you have your heart set on beach maternity photos, this archipelago is arguably the best place to take them. The beaches here are far less crowded than those you’ll find in many other popular Caribbean babymoon destinations.

Top Photo Locations
On Providenciales, world-famous Grace Bay Beach is the go-to coastline for most babymoon photos, but there’s a range of other coasts (such as Leeward Beach, Taylor Bay, and the Bight Beach) where you can take great maternity pictures.
Near Providenciales are several small uninhabited cays accessible via a short boat ride. These include Water Cay, Little Water Cay (Iguana Island), and Fort George Cay as well as the beach and lagoon of Half Moon Bay and the sandbars off Sand Dollar Cove. These can be beautiful locations for a maternity shoot. There is no public ferry to these islands, so tourists typically need to book a private boat charter or shared boat cruise to access them.
Prices
Maternity photos in Turks and Caicos start at around $350 per hour (2026 price). This does not usually include transportation to the shoot location.
Clear kayak drone photoshoots average at around $200 per hour for a couple.
Photographers often don't charge for travel if the photoshoot is on Providenciales. You’ll typically have to pay extra for your photographer's travel costs if you’re planning your session on another island, such as North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, or Grand Turk.
Best Time for Photos
The nicest time for maternity photos tends to be the early morning (around 9 AM) or late afternoon shortly before sunset (golden hour). Not only is the temperature usually more comfortable during these times, but the lighting also tends to be better. The sun can be very intense during the day, and many beaches don't have adequate shade.
Depending on what type of photoshoot you'd like to do, your photographer can recommend the best shooting locations and the best time to book your session.
Booking and Reservations
The local photographers often book photoshoots months in advance, so book before arriving in the islands. Subject to availability, photographers are typically happy to reschedule your session if it happens to fall on a bad weather day.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and stay hydrated. Consult with your doctor and be aware of your limitations—for example, a maternity shoot on a catamaran or yacht probably isn’t a good idea if you’re experiencing nausea during your pregnancy.
Babymoon Activities
The main babymoon-friendly activity here is exploring the country's many beautiful beaches. On any given day, it's easy to find a coastline with calm and shallow water for wading or swimming. Renting a car is the most affordable way to see all of the island's top coasts, as taxis can be quite expensive.
Boat cruises or private charters are a great option for pregnant couples, as they allow you to see some of the country's prettiest uninhabited cays and beaches, great snorkeling reefs, and shallow ocean sandbars without spending much energy. Most charter vessels have covered areas that provide shade to keep you cool throughout your tour and complimentary refreshments and snacks.
While there are plenty of tours and excursions to try here, the options are admittedly more limited for pregnant people. Some land sport and water sport providers, including parasailing companies, horseback riding stables, and ATV and buggy tour companies, do not allow you to participate if you are pregnant.
Seek clearance from your doctor before trying any land sports or water sports, including low-impact activities like kayaking and snorkeling.
A nice alternative to an ATV tour is an island tour in an air-conditioned bus or taxi. These tours visit various historical and natural points of interest, such as Cheshire Hall Plantation, The Hole, and the Junkanoo Museum.
Beyond water sports and land sports, there are numerous luxury spas and mobile spas that offer prenatal massage and other pregnancy-friendly treatments. Simply browsing the main shopping plazas can be a fun way to pass the time and shop for baby souvenirs like TCI onesies and stuffed animals.

Things to Know
During the tourism high season, immigration processing times at the Providenciales International Airport (PLS) can be two hours or longer. There is no dedicated family lane at the airport.
To reduce the time you spend standing in line and on your feet, consider booking a fast track service that allows you to bypass the main immigration line for a fee.
Airport wheelchairs are available upon request (typically through your airline).
Make sure to carefully review your health and travel insurance policies before going on a babymoon, as some insurance providers only cover out-of-country travel for up to 32 weeks of pregnancy. Many airlines do not allow pregnant women to fly past 36 weeks.
Babymoon Health and Safety Considerations
As is common throughout the Caribbean, healthcare facilities and services here are limited. There are two hospitals in Turks and Caicos: one is located on Providenciales (Cheshire Hall Medical Centre) and the other is on Grand Turk (Cockburn Town Medical Centre).
Providenciales also has several private walk-in clinics. Grace Bay Medical Center is the closest for most tourists staying in the Grace Bay region, and provides urgent care as well as obstetrics and gynecology services. Adjacent to this clinic is Grace Bay Pharmacy, which carries a range of medications and supplies.
Be sure to bring any prescription medications with you—the local pharmacies may not be able to fill them, or may require that you obtain a prescription from a local doctor.
The risk of contracting a foodborne or waterborne illness in the country is relatively low compared to destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Bali, especially at the luxury resorts and hotels.
There have been cases of Zika in the Turks and Caicos in the past—however, there have been no publicly reported cases of the virus since January 3, 2017.
