If you plan to rent a car or scooter to explore Grand Turk on your own, we advise printing or saving a map for navigation. If you’re taking an organized shore excursion or using taxis, you likely won’t require a map.

Most of the island’s hotels are located in Cockburn Town and further north on Pillory Beach, which is within walking distance of most restaurants and shops.

Cockburn Town has the only one-way streets in the entire country. Front Street (the main street in the capital where the Turks and Caicos National Museum is located) itself is one-way (in a northern direction), along with Duke Street.

The island has a speed limit of 20 mph (32 km/h). There are occasionally wild horses and donkeys grazing on the sides of the roads, and you are advised to remain within the speed limit and be alert for sudden livestock movement.
