The Beach and Smith’s Reef
Sugar Kube is located on the beach at Smith's Reef, which is a spectacular system of snorkeling reefs. A short private path leads directly onto the sand from the villa.
Coral can be both found close off the beach, as well as a little farther out, where the variety and vibrancy of the coral increases.
There’s a wonderful menagerie of colorful reef fish, corals, and rays to see. Sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, and stingrays can also be seen in the vibrant seagrass beds that surround the reefs.
It’s always interesting to look for the smaller creatures as well. Flamboyantly-colored flamingo tongue snails are often on sea fans, lobsters and shrimp hide under the crevices, and eels hide in the coral heads. Many sea animals are masters of camouflage, and are able to change their color to match the setting.
