Banyan Inn is located near the quiet South Side Marina at the Turtle Tail region of Providenciales.
Banyan Inn is a six room boutique hotel, and is located on the often overlooked southern side of Providenciales, Banyan Inn derives its name from an 18th century British Royal Navy term which we could safely translate to ‘meatless Mondays’ in modern-day lingo. Today, however, ‘Banyan’ day rather refers to a beach barbeque or seashore soiree. The Inn, located adjacent to South Side Marina, is a unique alternative to the familiar resort stays of Grace Bay, instead providing an intimate setting for visitors that leans on the collective experiences shared among its guests.
There are six hotel rooms to choose from, each tastefully themed to suit the needs of their guests, and each equally equipped with a beautiful view of the azure waters of the Caicos bank. Their Sand Dollar Room is dubbed the ‘rock and roll room’ as a mysterious but infamous rock ‘n roller reportedly stayed there. The room represents good times, music, and an enthusiasm for life to which it is hoped will permeate anyone’s stay. Similarly, the Dolphin Room has a history of marital proposals upon which it was christened representing young love and new beginnings. The Inn, which used to be a small marine research facility, suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017. To pay homage to the Inn’s history the owners included an over-the-bed installation titled ‘Rebirth’ that utilizes wood from the roof that was torn off in the storm.
All six hotel rooms are fitted with king-sized beds, roomy showers, and fresh linens, while all are also furnished with bespoke finishes made by the owners themselves. In-room amenities include a coffee station, smart TV, reliable Wi-Fi, and a mini-bar refrigerator. The spacious en-suites each have a view of the water and are kitted out with complimentary toiletries to enjoy during your stay.
On-site concierges offer seasoned advice on what to do, where to go, and what to eat while visiting Providenciales. Much like sailors of olde, the Inn encourages guests to share stories of the previous day’s adventures, or swap recommendations as to where to find the best conch fritters on the island. Sundowners can be enjoyed on the deck while gazing at the sunset, or from the privacy of your room.
Property amenities all contribute to cultivating a perfect holiday experience, with a large pool overlooking the canal and ocean, where sun worshippers can sizzle the day away under the Caribbean sun. For the more adventurous type, Banyan Inn offers their guests complimentary kayaks to explore the canals, adjacent ponds, and the Caicos Banks—often the calmer side of the island. Guests can also make use of snorkel gear provided free-of-charge, to explore the nearby Coral Gardens and Smith's Reef. Both locations are wellknown for their resident sea turtle populations, and if you’re lucky, you may also catch a glimpse of a spotted eagle ray.
A rental car is recommended should you be considering this property for your stay in Turks and Caicos. There are many rental car options to choose from, all offering a relatively standard rate.
The Inn is a prime establishment for those who have come with the sole intention of exploring our healthy reefs while scuba diving. Banyan Inn will provide breakfast-to-go to early risers heading off for a day’s dive, and Bob’s Bar (also located at the marina) is a great spot to grab a cold beer and some good food, after a long day on the water. Be sure to try the poutine.
Banyan Inn is the perfect price point for those who are looking for a social, adventurous stay, or those travelers who prefer to explore the less-traveled track along our beautiful islands.
