Bohio Dive Resort is permanently closed. The future of the resort is uncertain.
he Bohio Dive Resort is a small yet full-featured resort and water sports operator on the quiet Pillory Beach on Grand Turk. As the name suggests, the complex has a heavy emphasis on scuba diving, yet non-divers will appreciate the great beach, comfortable amenities and water sports.
The resort complex features 16 rooms, two restaurants, a swimming pool, and a great laid-back ambiance.
Scuba Diving
Grand Turk is home to some incredible reefs, and before the advent of the cruise port diving was the main tourism drive on the island.
All of the main islands in the Turks and Caicos offer a unique underwater aspect, and Grand Turk’s feature is the ease of access of many dive sites. It’s possible to jump on a boat and be at a great reef in just minutes.
Bohio Dive Resort offers several great perks, services, and amenities for scuba divers. As a PADI certified dive shop, there are onsite professional dive instructors, the full range of rental gear, and a great selection of dive training courses. Many dive packages include free tank refills for unlimited guest shore dives.
Dive Training
There are options whether you’re just beginning, looking to polish your underwater skills, or want to advance with a specialty course. Choose from Discover Scuba Diving (DSD), Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, navigation, and more.
Boat Tours and Excursions
As a full-service dive shop, the resort also has the vessels and knowledgeable staff to be able to provide boat and snorkeling tours, which are available to both guests staying at the resort as well as cruise ship guests.
Although Grand Turk hides some spectacular reefs, most sites are too far off to be suitable for shore snorkeling. Boat trips are a great way to visit the shallow snorkeling sites that are scattered around the Turks Islands.
Another great attraction is Gibbs Cay, a tiny uninhabited island that’s a haven for southern brown stingrays. The stingrays flock to meet the boats that land on the island’s small beach, which creates a great opportunity to watch and photograph these interesting marine animals.
During the winter months, the majestic humpback whale makes its appearance. Due to their location near the deep Columbus Passage that separates the Turks Islands from the Caicos Islands, whales are naturally funneled near Grand Turk and Salt Cay. Combined with the warm and clear ocean water that surrounds our islands, whale watching is excellent from Grand Turk. It’s also often possible to snorkel with the whales—a truly unforgettable experience.
Dining
There are two eateries at the Bohio Dive Resort: the Guanahani Restaurant with a refined atmosphere, and the causal Ike and Donkey Beach Bar. There’s live music several days per week as well.
There are some other great restaurants in Grand Turk as well, especially at the quaint inns and accommodations of historical Cockburn Town.
The Rooms and Amenities
The Bohio Dive Resort features 16 rooms. 8 are standard rooms with 2 queen beds each, and 8 have single king beds. 4 of the king rooms also feature kitchenettes.
All rooms have ocean views, and room amenities include air conditioning, a private balcony, Wi-Fi, TV, and refrigerator.
The hotel also features a fresh water swimming pool. Bicycles are available for rent, and are an ideal way to explore the nearby oceanfront Cockburn Town.
There are some great water sports amenities on the beach as well, including Hobie Cat sailboats, ocean kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards.
The resort can also help with other services during your stay, such as reserving transport and car rentals, arranging interisland flights, and activity booking.
Pillory Beach
Grand Turk boasts of several excellent beaches, and Pillory Beach where the Bohio Dive Resort is located definitely qualifies one of the island’s top coasts.
The resort is perfectly situated on the best section of Pillory Beach, which offers a clean sandy ocean floor near the beach, and snorkeling reefs farther out.
Pillory Beach and much of the west coast of Grand Turk is part of the Columbus Landfall National Park.
Pillory Beach continues two miles (3.2 km) to the north from the Bohio Dive Resort, where the secluded coast eventually concludes at the inlet to North Creek, where the Grand Turk Lighthouse can be seen.

To obtain the best rates, it’s advisable to research prices online (so you’ll have knowledge of the published rates), and then contact the local resort directly for their offer. The local accommodation can save significant amounts by not having to pay third-party booking commissions, and they’re often happy to pass some of the savings back to you.
Like many Caribbean vacation destinations, the Turks and Caicos experiences predictable fluctuations in tourist arrivals. The winter months tend to be the “high season”, and the end of summer months are the “low season. Rates are often much lower during the low season. See Best Times to Visit.
