The annual Fool's Regatta is the main amateur sailing event held in the Turks and Caicos. It’s a combined boating event, beach party and culinary festival.
Began in 1990 at
Sapodilla Bay Beach, the regatta now takes place at the Children’s Park on the
Bight Beach, and is typically held in late June or Early July.
Races
Several adult and children races take place, with multiple classes for
Hobie Cat Sailing and Pico sailboats. An informal and entertaining raft race, where competing teams paddle their scrap creations, is another highlight.
Local vessels of all types are attracted from around the islands as well, and the traditional
Caicos Sloop often makes an appearance.
