Providenciales has an extremely diverse array of water sports and activities to choose from.
Key Points
-
Some water sports companies are not licenced. You will typically have no legal recourse in the event of an accident. This is especially common with banana boat and other wake ride operators. You may want to confirm an operator is licenced before using their services.
-
Some water sports companies do not carry insurance or have inadequate insurance. This is especially common with banana boat and other wake ride operators. In the event of an accident, you will be responsible for your complete medical costs. If you have health insurance, you should be aware that you may not be covered for sports accidents and accidents outside of your home country. In additional, travel insurance does not usually cover sports accidents. You may want to confirm an operator is properly insured before using their services.

Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Stand-up-paddleboarding (or SUP) is a relatively new watersport in the Turks and Caicos and can be quite fun to try. SUPing is probably the best way to see the small sharks, turtles, conch and bonefish found in the shallow mangrove wetlands around Providenciales.
Kiteboarding
Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Kiteboarding is basically windsurfing with a giant kite. Unlike regular windsurfing, you can fly, jump and more. Often kiteboarders can be seen off the Grace Bay and Long Bay beaches. Local businesses provide lessons for newbies and also rent equipment.
Kayaking

Either self-paced or on an eco-tour, renting a kayak is great fun and highly recommended. Both one and two person models are available, and are low cost fun. Some of the resorts on Grace Bay provide kayaks free of charge.
Windsurfing
Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Although it might seem a little ancient compared to some of the newer watersports, windsurfing is still seen on Providenciales. Equipment is available at several rental locations and resorts around Grace Bay.
Fishing
Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Providenciales is the center for the excellent sport fishing found in the Turks and Caicos. Many of the famous dive sites are found close to Providenciales, so you won’t have to suffer through long boat trips.
Jet Skiing

Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Snuba is a relatively new and simple way to experience the reefs and aquatic life of Providenciales. The system is a cross between snorkelling and scuba diving and can be enjoyed easily by inexperienced divers after the brief introduction.
Parasailing
Providenciales • Water Sport/Activity
Parasailing is a great way to get a breathtaking view of Grace Bay, and of the reefs and larger sea life found in the Turks and Caicos. The usual flight lasts from 15 to 20 minutes and is suitable for everyone except very young children.
